It was not a good weekend for the Blue Devils. They came up short on both of their Outdoor Classic games played at Clark Park in Detroit. On Sat. Feb. 11, Wayne State University defeated LTU 5 - 3. Then on Sunday, Lansing Community College shut out the Blue Devils 1 - 0.

Men's Hockey - Mon, Feb 6, 2012

"We wanted a better send off for our seniors," said LTU's head coach Ken Gaffney after his team's 3-1 loss to the Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons. Saturday night was Senior Night, as the Blue Devils bid farewell to graduating seniors, left wing Phil Lywood, defenseman Chris Roskelly and forward Joe Donelko.

Despite the Blue Devils' 3-2 loss to the Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons, the large hockey crowd enjoyed a variety of Winterfest activities Friday night. LTU President Dr. Lewis Walker, Provost Dr. Maria Vaz and Miss Lawrence Tech Jasmine Jones participated in the ceremonial puck drop before the start of the game. During the game, Blue, the Blue Devil's mascot, tossed out free hotdogs and give-a-ways.

Michigan State University definitely had home ice advantage in their 12 - 3 victory against Lawrence Tech, Saturday, Jan. 28, at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing. This was a much different game than Friday night's closely matched 4 - 3 contest on LTU's home ice, with the Blue Devils coming out on the short end.

The Blue Devils were ready for the Michigan State Spartans Friday night and it showed. They held tight in the first period working as a cohesive unit, keeping the Spartans in check and scoring the first goal. Still, the game went to MSU with a final score of 4 - 3.
